Post A few Easy Tweaks to make Commanders of Evony even more addictive

    City View (Invasion):
    • Large Health Bar for Town Hall, either larger over Town Hall, or as a new object frame near the top of the screen.

    City View (Attack Mode):

    • Troop Placement:
      • a faint circle for ranged units might be helpful
      • When unit is positioned, show red target marker before they're placed.

    • if more than 4 troop types exist in the Rally Spot, only 4 troop types are shown. The attacking player will need to click a little arrow to scroll to the hidden units. Using keys 5-0 would be much better. If this is not an option, a much larger arrow (even flashing maybe) is needed.
    • onMouseOver Guild Castle should show the troops inside
    • Fight Summary splashscreen:
      • Include numbers for troops killed, and how many survived until the end of the fight.

City View (NEW: play test scenarios vs. your own city):
    • Pick and configure attacking General
      • set level and attributes (free points)

    • Pick and configure attacking troops
      • number of stars or Training Level

    • Save defaults, or last state

    City View (Fight Playback Mode):

    • Rewind, Play/Pause, Fast-Forward buttons
    • slider/progress bar like on videos
      • little indicators showing when troops are placed
      • right above/below the progress bar, a line graph showing percent of City remaining. It doesn't need to be big, and a Hide button might be nice. It would start at the top (100%) and drop slowly, or sharply as the City is decimated.

    • A URL to share the fight with your friends!

    City View (Build Mode):

    • Volume slider
    • Low CPU/memory mode - if the player's computer is low on available CPU/memory, Shockwave crashes
    • an optional (stress optional!) upgrade confirmation
    • City Editor (Move Mode):
      • Select multiple units and move them together
      • faint grid visible
      • when objects overlap, instead of turning entire object red, turn object dull red and conflicting squares bright red.
      • a 'clear' button that would take all buildings and walls and cram them into a corner. 'Twould halve the time of city redesign.
      • Click and drag for walls would be way cool.

    • when moving Guild Castle, the sound played is startling
    • Obstructions (Trees, Logs, Rock, Rocks):
      • There appears to be a bug when removing more than obstruction at a time. At the end of the countdown, all obstructions will remain.

    Invest:

    • I see investments from other guilds. Is this a bug?
    • Investments are "Small", "Medium", and "Large". The log shows them as "Investment", "Moderate Investment", and "Grand Investment". Perhaps the names should match.
    • Small Invest logs as "$NAME made a Investment". This should read "$NAME made an Investment".

    Quests:

    • Quest Guide (at bottom of page)
      • show progress (27/50 etc.)
      • Allow player to specify quest chain to track. Showing a new player "Defend Invasion Wave 50." is not very useful.

    • A button to Claim All would be handy

    Building Placement:

    • red square only on portion in conflict; rest stay green
    • when moving, all city components should have alpha reduced to ~85%, so it's possible to see behind tall objects
    • A "Move Keybind" would be useful, eg. ^m could toggle Move Mode on/off

    KeyBinds:

    • building movement [^m]
    • shift+Click in Barracks fills group completely even if double-click-fill is off

    Barracks:

    • show existing unit totals and total/cap (all Rally Spot info)
    • Add buttons:
      • Share with all Barracks
      • Share with Idle Barracks
      • Pause
      • Clear

    • Clicking the text "Double click to train the max " should toggle checkbox
    • Show Upgrade time, how long will it take to upgrade the barracks?
    • Double-Click to remove a stack from queue if "Double click" checkbox is checked

    Guild Castle:

    • update troops totals as donations come in
    • stop glowing when full

    Guilds:
    • Allow Host to assign privs based on Guild Position, eg. Vice-Host can mass-invite, Presbyter can invite.
    • Add at least 1-2 more ranks
    • Invest:
      • I see investments from other guilds. Is this a bug?
      • Investments are "Small", "Medium", and "Large". The log shows them as "Investment", "Moderate Investment", and "Grand Investment". Perhaps the names should match.
      • Small Invest logs as "$NAME made a Investment". This should read "$NAME made an Investment".

    Rally Spot:

    • View should be updated as troop numbers change (eg. troops are trained)

    Orders:
    • I'm rarely able to complete more than a single Order before I start getting errors ".. can not be submitted right now"
    • it would be nice to have a "Refresh Orders" button, for N gems price

    Realm View:
    • New object: Realm Favorites
      • save the coordinates
      • lookup <GUILD>Occupant on fly
      • User-defined short note to show onMouseOver, 25-45 chars
      • allow at least 20 entries

    • If cursor is in X coordinates, TAB should take it to Y input and highlight current contents of field. Enter/Return should click [Go].
    • a pointer (compass?) that always points toward Home
    • coordinates of current mouse location
    • distance of mouse pointer to Home city + distance outside Red Circle, if applicable
    • Check Player->Status - Text block limited to 4000 char, but only the first ~388 are visible. Perhaps this needs a scrollbar if too long to fit in tiny pane?

    Visit City View:

    • Back Button to return to Realm View if that's where we were before

    Chat:

    • Larger history buffer for all tabs. This is currently 49, but 200 (199?) is really a bare minimum. Memory consumption from a few text lines is trivial compared to everything else going on in the game.
    • Clicking a user and selecting Block, prints the message "Added to Blacklist successfully", and the user shows up in the "Blacklist", but the user is not blocked.
      • Should this be "Blacklist" or "Blocklist"?

    • New Tab: Log
      • Entries for every little mundane thing such as:
      • Farm Lv.5 Collected 2184 Goods
      • Reinforcements received from Angelo (3x Armored Grunt)
      • Map Attack vs. <TKT>Bollox completed (Defeat). You gained 31094 coins and 98455 goods.
      • Map Attack vs. <HGW>fenix completed (Win). You gained 3024 coins and 4596 goods.

    • Input History - Up-Arrow should cycle through previous 10-50 lines of input. This will make it easy to resend to Realm Chat (RC) something that was mistakenly sent to Guild Chat (GC) or Private Chat (PC). Up-Arrow should not change the Input Target drop-down.
    • Add Button: Clear Chat .. so your kids don't see the horrible thing that weirdo just said.
    • Custom channels - perhaps 3 people want to work on something - maybe they're not in the same Guild, or maybe they don't want to bother the whole Guild with it. Perhaps Guild Management wants its own private channel.
    • Channel Owner - rename channel, invite, boot, remove channel, grant
    • Channel Operator - invite, boot
    • Persistent Channel with password?

    Shop:

    • Info button, or onMouseOver that will show stats about objects (Why should I spend 16000 coin on a bomb? What does it do?)

    Message (Mail):
    • The link says "Message", the window title is "Mail". These should probably be the same.
    • Match:
      • It would be very helpful to see Matches entries where I'm the attacker.

    • War on Map:
      • It would be very helpful to see War on Map entries where I'm the attacker.

    • Inbox:
      • Index:
        • An indicator showing unclaimed attachments
        • Click column headers to sort
        • Click Pick column to Select All
        • Add button "Mark as Read"

      • Mail (individual message pane):
        • Clicking "Claim" should probably close pane
        • Messages need timestamps for each individual addition

    Nice suggestions
one more, on Realm View, would love the ability to zoom out like you can in your city view.

"Custom channels" Great idea, then people wouldn't need all guild members to have skype!

Time stamps on messages would be a nice feature also.

That's right. Time-stamp is a needed function and we will make it real soon.

another helpful thing is to have a claim all button for collecting ur resources or even better have it like the other evony and let it grow automaticly

Really excellent suggestions, Seganku, and I agree completely. Smaug's right about a 'Claim All' button, but I think we should be able to leave resources in the farms/mines until we're ready to collect them. There's no reason to have automatic collection, which simply advertises how much is available in addition to what's in storage.

Any chance of getting a fill in box for the barracks? Clicking a couple dozen times to build troops is a bit boring. And leads to silly mistakes.

I would love an optional (stress optional!) upgrade confirmation.

Most fun for me, a 'clear' button that would take all buildings and walls and cram them into a corner. 'Twould halve the time of city redesign. Click and drag for walls would be way cool.

    Thanks for considering these!

This gets updated regularly, almost daily as we find new little tweaks.

Great ideas Algona! I've added these into the main document.

I'd love to see a City Editor with some real features, eg. Save, rollback, move multiple things at once, maybe some kinda auto-position or auto-spacing. There are a lot of fun things that could be done there.
