I like the concept of a test server very much, it's something that we'd been demanding for quite a long time now. So, I tried it and these are my impressions:
- First of all, I couldn't login for two days but finally I managed to do it by yesterday evening. The test server would have needed a test itself before being released at all.
- The arenas are demonstrating how unbalanced is the game in general and the endgame in particular. You must get rid of the timeover for good.
- I say this, despite the fact that there's a known line-up that can annihilate mostly EVERY team you can think of, which, again, shouldn't happen at all. The game is supposed to have a strong strategy component, which means that NO defence or counter should be effective against everything.
- The booty caves are still a pain in the ass. They should work like the defence in the warhall, and we should have the means to spend more lanterns as multipliers of the loot. In my regular server I have way over 1k lanterns that I don't have the time to use anymore.
- The sorting of the heroes is a complete MESS. There are too many heroes. Finding one in particular takes too long, specially in the War of Gods feature, where your time is very limited.
Now, the War of Gods itself.
- First, I insist in the very important matter of the sorting of heroes. It's way too annoying when you have just a few seconds to select two particular heroes, specially if you're trying to react to what you see that your opponent has been selecting and you want to counter it. In my normal server, everytime I promote a hero and it goes upper in the list, the WHOLE list changes, even the ones above the aforementioned hero. WHY? Sort them like now, by stars, then promotion, but then ANOTHER third criteria such as alphabetical order. It would be nice to be able to see them grouped by more categories different of front/middle/back such as int/str/agi and medal (female, naga race, etc.)
- Something that could help would be to change the hero selection system. See, the first player has 60 seconds to pick his entire formation, hidden from player number 2. Then the second player sees it, has another 60 seconds and the battle starts. The second battle in reverse order, and the third battle if needed both have 60 seconds at the same time and go to battle blind, knowing ONLY that the heroes used previously can't be used again.
- Sometimes the waiting time is too long, you cancel, go to search again and it finds a player instantly. It's like the search was not searching in a countinuous basis.
- Why make it real-time anyway if you won't let us deal the ultimates at will?
- On the very first day I saw that there were people at lv25 already, but I guess that's normal because some people don't have a real life, that's OK.
- The chest system, I don't like it very much, specially if you have to buy the VERY overpriced additional slots every season. If it's a one-time thing like unlocking the permanent godfather, then I guess it's fair enough.
I haven't tested it for very long but as I said I liked the initiative very much and these are only my initial thoughts. I will post more as soon as I find any bugs or things that could be improved.
