[Guide] Condensed Guide to Team Building & Hero Investment

    Introduction
Got real tired of seeing people posting long lists of their heroes and asking which heroes they should invest in and how to fit them in teams. Information in this guide should not be taken literally as Heroes Charge is a relatively deep game and there are many many hero combination to try out. What this guide tries to do is to help beginner/intermediate players work towards a basic cookie cutter team to learn with, after that they can branch out to their own unique combination after gaining some in game experience. The guide is also targeted at players ABOVE LEVEL 50. Since before that the main focus is to level up and to use whatever strong heroes are available.

The heroes will be divided into the following categories, modeled after sports teams

Starter: Generally your team will consist of 3-4 of the heroes here
Subs: Heroes that are interchangeable with the starter heroes, but won't be used as much
Reserves: Heroes that can fit with the team, but will be used only when the situation calls for it.

    How to use the Guide
Look at the heroes and how they are divided. Now generally try to invest in heroes in the Starter category, once that is done followed by the Subs category (not all the sub heroes are needed though). The reserves category can be ignored if you lack the resources or they are easily rented from your Guild.

The list is also NOT MEANT TO INCLUDE EVERY HERO, just the ones that are important. If a hero is not in this list, they are on low priority.

The main 2 team types are presented below

    Physical
A general, well rounded team with stable damage output. Good from level 50+

    Starters:
    War Chief
    Vengeance Spirit
    Shadowleaf
    Commando
Luna Guardian (Switches places with Arcane Sapper after lvl 73)

    Subs:
    Arcane Sapper (After level 73)
Drunken Master (Focus on Old Curse first, you can skip him if you can get IH)
    Iron Hoof (backup tank)
    Cloud Walker
    Fallen Dominion
Silencer (very very late game hero)

    Reserves:
    Tusked Storm (mainly for Raids)
    Rifleman (mainly for Raids)
    Shadow Shaman
    Pilot
    Depths Voice
    Savage One (mainly for Raids)

    Magic Team
Generally Physical heroes are higher priority as magic heroes only start to be on par after level 78.

    Starters:
Death Mage (very important for post level 78 Crusade, Valkyrie 5 and 6, Magic Trial and helpful in Time Rift)
Old Curse (Switch with Machinist after level 85)
    Frost Mage
    Mystic

    Subs
    Machinist
    Succubus
Admiral (best for leading a Mage team IMO, work on her after level 80)

    Reserves
    Imperial Executioner
    Ice Mage

    Utility
Heroes that don't fit into either category are here

    Death Knight
Very very important for Crusade when below level 78, if you get him from a chest go ahead and gear/star/level him. Otherwise don't bother and just rent

    Chaplain
You CANNOT complete crusade without her. Gear and star (at least 4*) her up like a Starter before level 80. After that if you can complete Crusade without much problem treat her as a Reserve hero

    Disease Bringer
The King of Hard Crusade and useful in a couple of Outland Portals (Raged Blood and Robot), get him if you are struggling with Hard Crusade

But I don't have any of the heroes here! What do I do?
Well the most important thing is to start farming soul stones for heroes listed as Starters here. In the meantime, follow this guide for how to use what you have to build a team.

Note: Heroes that are in Magic hot stone are exempt from this guide, as well as recently released heroes like EB and Phoenix

So that's it! Feel free to discuss/call me an idiot here

    at first good guide.

Maybe its a "too advanced tip", but if you are in levelrange 50-65 and already have your sapper on 3 stars combine him with shadow shaman. This combo can kick the sh*t out of your enemies, cause nobody is prepared for sappers at that level.
    for the watch!

About Chaplain. I can complete crusade without her, and most members of our guild too. when i used her before, i has worse results actually. don't think she is that critical.

Because our crusade is way too easy. I'm lvl 84 and who do I fight in crusade ? Guys with TL from 66 to 84. That's really weird. I miss the challenging crusade we once had, where we fought against ppl who are stronger than us.

I've been testing lineups without Chapplin recently (DM/OC/FM/Machinist/Mystic)

It clears crusade slightly faster but all you need is a couple of AOE attacks (OC BS, DM BS, Accidental WM/Succ Ulti etc and your OC/FM/Machinist are at 2/3 HP. Managed to run all the way to the end today with 1/3 HP on everyone at the start of round 15

The TLR is, you CAN complete Crusade without Chapp, but why go through all that trouble?

IMO, Chaplain role is making crusade easier, you dont have to think about using more than 10 heroes, just use 4 of your core heroes for crusade

like DM, FM, OC, etc and 1 tank for round 1, round 2 swap tank with Chaplain, round 3-15 ez crusade..

    Ontopic :

good job for starting this thread, i too am tired with same thread over n over asking about setup, hope this thread will get stickied

I have a quick question. I'm currently TL 50 and I'm really conflicted on what to spend my guild points on. Judging from your list, it a toss up between Arcane Sapper and Luna Guardian. I've done my research on all of them but I still can't really decide. Arcane Sapper is amazing from 73+. Luna Guardian is pretty strong up to lvl 73, where she begins to fall off. My question is, which of the 2 do you recommend I invest in? I'm VIP 3, with the monthly subscription so I have some resources but not a whole lot. Do you think it's worth it to invest in LG, who falls off in ~23 levels or should I begin working on my sapper, so that he has a decent amount of stars once I hit TL 73.

Just invest into arcane sapper. You will hit 73 in about a month. It takes ~4k exp to level from 70-80, so another month from 73-80. If you are one of those people that heavily invests into arcane sapper when u hit 73, you will go up a lot of arena ranks.
Use this team: WC, mystic, commando, AS, and OC (highest int). Absolutely destroys other teams without arcane sapper.

Im lvl 39 (50exp for 40) and only have Commando and Chaplain. So should I only invest to these heroes? (I'm farming WC 8/30 -.-).

Btw, at the end you don't really help the ppl which haven't these heroes.

Here all my heroes. I also own now Mystic, Ember Blade and Machinist.
