Pilot tips
There is a trick to using his US so that you can avoid some bosses attacks.
Basically, you need to be able to get his US meter full before pilot does his second air strike(BS).
When he does his second air strike and is behind the boss, you can US and he will immediately land behind the boss.
When behind the boss, he can avoid most/all boss attacks, can be useful in phoenix/dragon stage.
This is very situational because its only possible to get his US that fast if his max hp is low enough

Actually, you don't exactly need healers, you need to SURVIVE because the boss will kill himself after sometime. Hence all tank formation works too.
DK can buy lots of time with their US. Same as WC revive.
Special mention: Lightning Elemental. This guy sucks all the boss dmg and at the end the boss hit you for <10 dmg which is a joke!

Don't use Auto, save your Ulti until when Phoenix is an Egg, ShadowLeaf and Pandas ults are enough.
Chap healing for phoenix
Only possible if you have more than enough hits for egg stage but heroes cannot survive till egg stage.
Requires chap to have a low enough hp/magic resist so that she can US before your heroes die during phoenix beam.
You can hire a lower level chap from guild to do this
Can use up to stage 5
Tips for clearing Phoenix 6 with physical teams
Team: Panda / Swordmaster / Vanguard Warrior / Cloud Walker / Shadowleaf
1. Requires all heroes to be orange,panda P4 max enchanted
2. Swordmaster must US twice, once just after boss flys back, second time during egg stage
3. If you don't do enough damage, nix's beam will outright kill shadowleaf even without critical hits
4. You will probably require a few resets even if you have all the required heroes as boss crits can easily kill any of your heroes
5. If any hero dies before egg stage, you wont get enough hits and you will fail
6. When hitting egg, I release US in this order with the freeze trick, panda->cw->vw->sm->sl, after all US finishes, you will need around 3 normal hits to finish off the egg
7. You can release US the moment the white bar appears, not after it fills up.
Clearing Phoenix 6 with Wizard doctor
Team: War chief / Death Mage / Machinist / Chaplain / Wizard Doctor

One of the key issues is having your heroes have enough hp to stand the boss's poison-like attack
Don't turn on Auto, save the ulti for when the Lord emerges from the ground.
If you want to use mystic, you must manually release his US before the 0:59 mark, just before the boss burrows again.
There is an alternative way to drag the timing by cancelling US one by one so mystic can store a little more power, but its kinda hard to time.
You can also use the Freeze animation US tip below to maximise damage.

Special mention: Leaves shadow/Death mage and silencer. The boss attackers are mostly magic based so a silent will stop most of his attackers.
Silencer is especially good because he can US just before the boss US, making sure your front line don't die.

Freeze animation US tip
This is a tip that will help you maximise damage against bosses
When you release a US, the screen blackens and enemies freeze while your hero will move a normal speed.
Using freeze animation, you can maximise damage on ultis that will otherwise take time to do damage like DM/phoenix
For example: On Lord of Caves - using team psycho-dm-fm-mac-ice
1. Bosses pops out of ground, have dm release US immediately
2. While screen is still black, release ice mage US. If done correctly, DM US spirits will still be moving and doing damage
3. While screen is still black, release machinists US.If done correctly, DM/Ice US will still be moving and doing damage
4. While screen is still black, release frost mage US.If done correctly, DM/Ice/mac US will still be moving and doing damage
5. While screen is still black, release psycho US.If done correctly, DM/Ice/mac/fm US will still be moving and doing damage
6. Each mage will release 1 or 2 more attacks before bosses dies
This example maximises DM's US damage as other if you release it normally, it will only have around half the time to do damage, effectively halving the damage done.
You can use this trick when releasing phoenix US to squeeze 1/2 more US hits against flyers boss
You can also use this trick to store a little more power for mystic's US in lord of caves
Also can use this trick to squeeze out a little more damage in raids without interruption by bosses.
P.S. Doing this does not stop timer
