    Regarding translation issue in Vietnamese!

    Dear Leaders,

    We have released a new version that provides for multi-language support however there are a number of translation mistakes that have been caught in Vietnamese. We feel terrible about this as we were responding to our leaders in requesting Heroes Charge in their native language. Thank you for the feedback from all our leaders around the world.

    We’re glad to see there’s so many enthusiastic players who are willing to improve the huge task of translating and we really appreciate your help. It reminds us that we’re all walking together as we enjoy Heroes Charge and make a game we all truly love.

    Please express your ideas and improve our translations in this thread. For those leaders who desire to help in translating, we’ll think of an interesting reward to show our sincere thanks. thank you for your assistance and feedback!

    Best Regards,

    Heroes Charge Team

    I think you shouldn't change name of heroes. Keep heroes name in English is so cool

    Lightbulb Reasons why the current translation doesn't work and suggestion for a few heroes

    First of all, i disagree with the guy above about keeping heroes' names in English as not all Vietnamese can understand English.

    Secondly, when it comes to heroes' names and heroes' skills, literal translation generally does not do it, even if i has exactly the same meaning as the original English text. A lot of it has to do with culture. As many East Asian countries (Japan, Korea...), Vietnam's culture has been greatly influenced by China. And as a result we have Sino Vietnamese ( Hán Việt) and "pure" Vietnamese (thuần Việt) in regards to our language. For everyday speech, we tend to use the latter more than the former. But for heroes' names and skills, it would be much better if it is Sino Vietnamese, as it is more elegant and sounds "fancier". AND I have been playing enough Vietnamese online games to know this.

    And here is my suggestion for a few heroes (some changes may have completely different meaning from the original one as I take culture into account):

    1. Poisoned one: Kẻ đầu độc---> Độc Long (poisoned dragon)
    - Ultimate skill (US): Phun axit---> Cuồng Độc
    - Green skill (GS): phân tách chất độc---> Phá Giáp
    - Blue skill (BS): giải quyết kháng cự---> Độc Giáp
    - Purple skill (PS): Tẩm độc---> Độc Sát

    2. Ice mage: Pháp sư băng giá---> Pháp sư băng
    -US: Săn thiếu nữ (who the hell translated this seriously -.-)---> Mưa Băng
    -GS: Cái kén băng---> Ngục Băng
    -BS: Nhà tù băng giá---> Hàn Băng
    -PS: Con dấu của Arctus---> Băng Tâm

    3. Lunar: Vệ binh mặt trăng---> Nguyệt Thần
    -US: Rào chắn mặt trăng---> Đại Nguyệt Quang
    -GS: Phán quyết mặt trăng---> Tiểu Nguyệt Quang
    -BS: Nguyệt Kiếm---> Bán Nguyệt Đao
    -PS: Boaz được lựa chọn---> Nguyệt Thần Ban Phúc

    4. Commando: Lính đặc công---> Bạch Hổ
    -US: the same (this translation is actually very good)
    -GS: Cảm hứng---> Bạch Hổ Gầm
    -BS: Phóng đại---> Thần Tiễn
    -PS: Thúc đẩy---> Tăng Thân Pháp

    5. Leaves Shadow: Bóng Lá---> Diệp Ảnh (My old translation is "Hắc Diệp", but a guy pointed out this is a wrong translation. I also think "Diệp Ảnh" sounds better).
    -GS: Đốm băng---> Tên băng
    -PS: Cơn thịnh nộ của rừng---> Thịnh nộ

    6. Wind master: Chủ nhân gió---> Phong Tinh (either one is fine)
    -US: Sức gió---> Cuồng phong tiễn
    -GS: Sự chấn động---> Bạo vũ tiễn
    -BS: Mưa đá---> Liên hoàn tiễn
    -PS: Phong vũ---> Phong thần thoái

    7. Depths voice: Giọng nói từ sâu thẳm---> Tiểu Nhân Ngư (don't have this hero so don't know her skills' original names) :/
    -US: ---> Ru ngủ
    -GS: ---> Trảm thương
    -BS: ---> Quăng lưới
    -PS: ---> Linh hoạt

    8. Savage one: kẻ man rợ---> Đại Nhân Ngư
    -US: Đóng sầm---> Cuồng Nộ
    -GS: Độ dao động cung---> Bạo kích
    -BS: Sự ăn ṃn---> Đánh dấu
    -PS: Sức mạnh tiền bối---> Sức mạnh

    9. Drunken master: Túy Quyền---> Gấu Trúc or Minh Chủ Vơ Lâm
    -US: Đ̣n Chấn Động---> Phi long tại thiên
    -GS: Haze say xỉn---> Túy quyền
    -BS: Tấn công rung chuyển---> Bổng đả ác cẩu
    -PS: Lực hùng mạnh---> Thiên hạ vô địch

    IMO, all heroes and skills' names need to be changed, but those are a few changes I think Vietnamese players would love to see first.
    There are of course translation problems with explanations of skills, campaigns, items' names etc too but that would take a lot of time to write about.

    Hope that helps

    please don't translate heroes name from English to VNese-Chinese phonetically. This is not a china game and sound very stupid, and many people in fb group agree with keeping the english name and translate the item and description only ) Btw thanks for speeding times on writing those name

    Sino-Vietnamese is not Chinese

    Who said this is a Chinese game? And 60-70% of Vietnamese language is made up of Sino-Vietnamese. "Pure" Vietnamese is not always better.

    Tell me which do you think sounds better, and which do you think sounds "stupid":
    - Phụ nữ vs Đàn bà
    - Trường đại học vs Trường học to
    - Đại Tây Dương vs Biển Lớn (ở phía) Tây?

    Those are just a few examples in which Sino-Vietnamese sounds much better and actually makes more sense.

    The MAJORITY of abstract things in Vietnamese is expressed in Sino-Vietnamese, and there is no "pure" Vietnamese equivalence.
    If you hate Sino-Vietnamese so much then try to replace these following words with "pure" Vietnamese:
    - Kinh tế, Kế hoạch, Quốc hội, dự định, xuất khẩu, nhập khẩu, thương hàn, thủ tướng, tổng thống,...

    Also, when was the last time you met a guy named "Gió", "Núi" or "Rồng". Well, me neither. But we are much more likely to encounter a guy named "Phong", "Sơn", "Long", aren't we. So they mean exactly the same things but why do we like using Sino-Vietnamese to name our children? Didn't it come from China? Is is not Vietnamese?

    I just wanna say that regardless of the origin, Sino-Vietnamese is STILL Vietnamese. If you say otherwise, then you clearly don't know what you're talking about, or you are a 5fh grader who hasn't had to encounter abstract words with complicated meanings.

    @ucool, please distribute the language text file (english) to admin of HC Vietnam community (Facebook group), they will help collect ideas from our community.

    Also please settle some prizes for contributors, like top 10 contributors will get the prize, the admins will distribute prize thru public votes.

    or you can create an forum event for this, not only Vietnamese issue, I think other languages still have issues too.
    Just distribute the english text file, collect from contributor, get votes from users to select the best translation.

    Agree with Redpanda

    I agree with Redpanda, he is a good translator. We can use Sino Vietnamese for Name, title of Character, skill, place, item.. and use pure Vietnamese for description of them. I think uCool should issue raw English text file for forum members to translate. We will divide into some group and send our result after finish. At deadline uCool can make a poll to vote the best translation.

    As I said, they need to distribute the text file to our community, we should not translate all by someone's mind.

    example:
    5. Leaves Shadow: Bóng Lá---> Hắc Diệp
    Should be "Diệp Ảnh" not "black leaves" like your translation.

    And I will not spend my time for this without any return, I pay for them every single month, why we do this for free, lol.

    Ok I admit Diệp Ảnh sounds better. But is that all? Only 1 word difference and that makes my whole translation terrible? I hope you can show me more what other "terrible translation" I made. And IF YOU CAN please post your "not terrible translation" so I can learn to avoid further mistakes.

    For the record, "Diệp Ảnh" is still Sino Vietnamese, not "pure" Vietnamese.

    If no one other than me wants to provide any better translation, and so many people disagree with me then I think we should just leave the current Vietnamese translation as it is. No need to change anything or just switch to English language. It would be waste of my time to think of translation just for other people criticizing it without actually contributing anything useful.

    And I don't think they are gonna provide any file. If you want to make any translation suggestion, post it in this thread. Otherwise, nothing would change and you guys would keep complaining as always.

    keep name of skills and heroes in English

    As the title, names of skills and heroes translated by Ember are too ridiculous ( I actually have to speak out this). The only things, Ember can translate to VNese are descriptions about skills, heroes, items and titles of items such as Trial, crusade, time clift, shop, treasure, ... That's enough.

    pls don't listen this guy.
