Have a look at some team setup threads here in the forum there you will finde some good advices for the start.
    100% true.

That means you could 'cheat' your total power by adding full skill, for example adding 50 skill point could give you a +200 power. So if each of your heroes have +600 power, you would have around +3000 power (just example, you could test for exact number). However, if such ultimate spell never been cast, those numbers are 'fake'. If your heroes die before they could cast a spell or they are silent, all power numbers are useless.

However I think 12091 power would never lose to 9987 power, the gap is large enough to guarantee a win, maybe that guy is a cheater ???
I'm sure it has nothing to do with cheating. My best team is 4300 points bellow my highest power team.
And that best team can defeat teams 3500 power above.

Luck plays a role too, if your team can get their CC just before your enemy uses theirs the fight is pretty much yours. Biggest reason why Old Curse is so op.

They (ucool) either use the wrong formula to calculate power (with the assumption that they want to calculate real heroes power) or that number has nothing to do with team real power.

The calculations are made correct. There is no other way to actually calculate it. It's based on the stats.
The game is not ment for you to check in arena the arena power of the opponent in order for you to determine if you can 100% or 0% defeat him.
The power is just ment to give you a hint on how evolved the enemy heroes are, but there are a lot more to consider. Hero composition, hero singery, luck on % based spells and a lot more.

Just had my worst offset loss ever:

    Me
    Power: 14656
Brute, DK, Chaplain, Commando, Ice Mage
    All at max skills.

    Enemy
    Power: 10961
War Chief, DK, Wind Master, Leaves Shadow
That's right, he only had four guys on field.

His War Chief revived twice, so in the end it was like he had 6 guys on the field. What... the... heck though. There's no way I should lose to someone when I have 50% more Power than they do.
