How is Power calculated? Does it mean very much? Shouldn't I have won that battle?

Yesterday I had a horrible run in the Arena. First off, I got dropped about 500 Ranks somehow, and thought I needed to get back into the top 300 spots (where I end most of my nights easily). My Power level was just over 12k. So I found someone with 11k. And lost.

Grumble grumble. It happens. So I found someone with almost 2000 less power, and again I lost. Then I found someone with 9987 power. I felt certain I would mow him down. But he finished me off with 4 of his guys still alive. I only killed his Shallows.

    What... the.... freak....

Anyway, so this all made me very curious to what Power really means. How exactly is it calculated? How much is a Star worth? What about a Promotion? Hitting purple and getting that 4th skill must be worth a lot. Right? Is a 3-star, Blue +2, level 50 Old Curse, with 50/40/20 skills worth the same amount of Power points as a 3-star, Blue+2 level 50 Admiral? Do the Power points take into consideration the fact that Admiral is terrible and Old Curse is pretty great?

And how is it possible that I can go into a battle with 12091 Power and lose to a guy with 9987 power?

Anyway, how much more Power do you normally still attack? How much less Power have you lost to? For me, the highest I've ever beaten, on purpose, was around 700 more Power than me. I don't try that often though, and I don't do it if they have certain Heroes on their team.

I can't say the exact way power is calculated, it's basicly the heroes stats that go better true lvling stars and items that give you higher power.
The more important part, as you already seen is comming up with a tactic against your enemy. As far as i can see the game is not ment for you to have 5 heroes that always atack in the same formation over and over. You have to switch around. What lineup are you using?

promotion can even drop your power since you lose all you enchants. Basically it just look on pure stats of your hero including health, defs, points in skillis etc. It doesnt care is this stats on thd or admiral, since game consider all heroes be pretty even. And this is where your problem start - losing to 2 k less power means you have better levels/enchantings/items/more skill points, but your lineup of heroes suck. I easily win people with 1500 + power more than mine if i see that their lineup is pretty bad.

Power is only one factor for being successful in a fight. The second really important fact is the formation of your team. You should study your opponents teams before you start a fight. You always should try to counter the enemies heros. There are some synergies between heros you should consider. And some heros don't really work good together. Have a look at some team setup threads here in the forum there you will finde some good advices for the start.

I think they used a complex method to calculate power, even adding skill points to 'never used' skill also added to your total. They must give each figure a factor, and then multiply and sum them all together.

That means you could 'cheat' your total power by adding full skill, for example adding 50 skill point could give you a +200 power. So if each of your heroes have +600 power, you would have around +3000 power (just example, you could test for exact number). However, if such ultimate spell never been cast, those numbers are 'fake'. If your heroes die before they could cast a spell or they are silent, all power numbers are useless.

However I think 12091 power would never lose to 9987 power, the gap is large enough to guarantee a win, maybe that guy is a cheater ???

I'm wondering though more about how Power works, and when you guys see a guy in Rankings and say "There is no way I should even try that battle."

The battle I lost 12091 vs 9987 was I had Brute, Lightning Elemental, Chaplain, Commando, and Ice Mage. The other guy had Shallows Keeper, Admiral, Commando, Leaves Shadow, and Old Curse. I normally don't fight Old Curses, unless it looks easy. I hate facing that guy though :P He's normally on my "Do Not Attack List" along with DK, Panda, and PK.

In the ladders on Admiral I've seen people in the top 10 with 20000 power... and the top places going to people with 17k. Now, I'm sure that guy with 20k has fought all of those other guys a bunch of times, but he sometimes loses. I wonder how often he wins.

What are the top power levels on your server? Right now on Admiral it is:

    1: 18078
    2: 17573
    3: 18140
    4: 18208
    5: 18410
    6: 16421
    7: 19529
    8: 17396
    9: 17065
    10: 16355
    ..
    ..
    17: 20085
    23: 19813

Maybe I should look a little at the teams between the guys having high power but lower ranks, and that guy above in 6th place.

    Leave lightning out

Switch lightning out, you will do better in arena, most of the time, lightning just died without using ulti which makes him useless in arena.

Take care about commando in the enemy team. His power is wrong his haste skill if he kill your tank during the time of his skill you lost.
Exept if you can counter him with a second tank or have it in your team.
Or if you have 200-300 point over him

I'm not sure how long Commando's Haste last, as you can see, the halo last only like 5 seconds after battle begin, but look like it affect the whole battle. Anyone know whether that spell last whole battle (super cool) or just 5 seconds (lousy) ?

You all are missing one vital information. Enchanted items are NOT counted into power. So you can have 2 identical team but one got enchanted gear and other do not and power will be the same but the enchantedb guy will wipe the floor with non enchanted guy.

You're wrong man! I just test it, enhance an item (20), it increases total power by +11.

Well than that information I read on one of the web site is missleading. Should test it myself before posting. My bad.

I've already replaced him with a DK. What I really need to do is replace my Brute as well.
